Fat Burning Soup Diet Review
By now you’ve probably heard about the famous Miracle Cabbage Soup Diet and and it’s supposed ability to magically make you drop lots of weight. This is understandable since cabbage is a vegetable and vegetables are good for us, right?

True, but while eating a soup predominantly made out of one vegetable seems like a good idea, the reality is that a 7-day diet made up of all cabbage soup recipes is going to feel real old by the time you reach day seven. I mean, cheeseburgers taste good, but would I eat one for every single meal for a whole week?

What about Jello? It’s low fat and tasty. Would you be willing to eat nothing but Jello for one week?

Probably not, but many people are convinced that they can stay on a plan with one diet cabbage soup recipe – even if it’s been “updated” by adding a little meat. I’ll tell you right now that I choose not to review the Cabbage Soup Diet because it is purely a fad diet that many people start, but cannot stay on for long due to it’s extreme nature.

However, the idea of a fat burning soup diet is a good one. Soup is naturally low in calories (in most cases) and contains lots of foods that are good for us. The thing is, if you’re going to eat a lot of soup as part of your weight loss plan, you want to include soups that are tasty and provide a variety of flavors.

The closest I found to a real miracle soup diet is the My Secret Soups Diet, a diet that  consists of seven soup recipes that are under 100-calories (except for one). What makes these soups special is that they are based on popular Latin American soups. The author, Tony Pena, reveals that in his native Venezuela, most people enjoy eating soup for lunch and dinner and do not have the kind of weight problems we Americans suffer from.

I promise that once you see Tony’s soups, you won’t even be tempted to try that lame (and very bland) cabbage version. These soups are filled with mouthwatering ingredients like chicken, beef, pork, fish, shrimp, potatoes, beans, pasta, onions, garlic, bell peppers, tomatoes, corn, squash and Tony’s “secret soup seasoning.”

He includes pictures of what each soup looks like (yum) and the directions are thorough and pretty easy to follow. Tony also provides several bonus soup recipes that are familiar to most people.

The first half of the book is basically an education on dieting and nutrition. It’s solid facts, but you may already know some of this information. The soup recipes begin on page 52, followed by the actual diet plan. For seven days, you’ll be eating soup, then you take a three day break, go back to eating soup for five days, then take another three day break, then eat soup for another three days.

You have a lot of flexibility after that to modify the diet as you please. I don’t think anyone will get tired or hungry on this diet and you’ll gain a new appreciation for how good eating a bowl of soup can make you feel.

Viva la soup!
